Behavioral Health Fellowship

• Master’s level graduates of:
  • Social Work
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Professional Counseling programs
  • Or other related fields…
• Candidates should have no more than 12 months of post-Graduate work experience in their field
• Candidates must have the ability to be licensed in the state of Washington within 90-days of the start of the Fellowship, ideally prior to starting.

The Post Graduate Fellowship in Behavioral Health is designed to offer new graduates/early-career clinicians with additional support and education through direct practice with patients under the supervision of an experienced provider.  This Fellowship involves therapeutic work with patients with diverse psychiatric needs in an integrated care setting.  Fellows participate in interdisciplinary didactic learning with other recent graduates to enhance their ability to view patients holistically, across the lifespan, and in partnership with Primary Care and other care providers.  Fellows also identify professional goals to achieve through regular clinical supervision which counts toward their independent licensure.

Fellowship appointments are approximately 12 months.  A second 12-month appointment may be considered, contingent upon mutual agreement. 

Fellows will develop in-depth knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:

• Direct clinical work with patients, including: assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and use of therapeutic interventions
• Interdisciplinary coordination of patient care
• Education about and delivery of evidence-based brief treatment models
• Experiences in the exciting and fast-paced primary care setting
• Didactic learning experiences with all types of health care professionals

Fellows will receive clinical supervision hours required for independent licensure in their field.

• Fellows will receive 1-hour per week of individual supervision with an experienced, licensed provider who is registered (as applicable) to provide hours toward the Fellow’s independent licensure
• Fellows will attend group Behavioral Health supervision
• Fellows will attend didactic seminars, offered by clinical leaders at CHAS Health across a variety of disciplines. 
• Fellows will participate in BH departmental meetings and other mandatory CHAS Health trainings and events

Fellows are full-time, temporary employees who have access to pay and other benefits as noted.  Licensure fees are eligible for reimbursement for accepted Fellows.  Relocation expenses are not covered. 

Applications must be sent in one complete email file (with all components, including references) to work@chas.org.  Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. 

A complete application must include:

• One-page statement of interest with an emphasis on how this Fellowship relates to your career goals
• Three letters of reference, with preferably two being from internship supervisors
• A resume
• A copy of most recent year practicum evaluation or, if currently employed, most recent workplace evaluation
• A transcript from the institution in which you are working on, or have completed, your graduate training
• Applicants should attempt to obtain applicable licensure for their degree to practice in the state of Washington prior to starting the Fellowship. 

Applicants will be notified by CHAS Health when their application is received and verified as complete.  Applicants may revoke their application at any time in the process by contacting work@chas.org.  After initial review of application materials, selected applicants will be invited for an on-site interview. 

After the interview, potential Fellows will be selected by the Fellowship program leadership and an offer extended.   Potential Fellows will be required to pass a complete background check prior to hire.  Candidates who are offered one of the Fellowship slots are expected to commit to the full appointment length (approximately 1 year).
